Where have you been?

Where are you now?

Let us take your location, and the stops near you will be listed. You can stamp the seal of any stop you come within a hundred and fifty metres of. You can also stamp a seal from the stop's own page.

Adım Adım Amasya

Honorary Citizenship Certificate

Having come to know, step by step, both banks of the Yeşilırmak, its bridges, the royal tombs and the footsteps of the princes,

Your name

is by this certificate an honorary citizen of Amasya.

Two thousand years ago Strabo of Amasya wrote, “My city…” Now you can say it too.

This certificate is a keepsake from the Adım Adım Amasya website; it is not an official document and is not issued on behalf of any institution.

Your name appears only on this page, on the certificate; it is not sent anywhere and is not stored.

Seals

Some stops lie on two routes at once. They appear under both routes; a seal you stamp once fills in on both. Tap a seal to enlarge it. To see the moment of stamping, you can stamp a sample seal; a sample seal is not written to the passport.

Back up or move to another phone

So that your seals are not lost if you change phones or clear your browser data, a backup turns your seals and the days they were stamped into a short link. Scan the QR code with the new phone's camera, or send the link to yourself. The backup is not sent anywhere; the link is only in your hands.

Good to know

Your passport stays only on this device. The seals are written to your browser's own storage; they are not sent anywhere, and we cannot see them. If you clear your browser data or open the site on another phone, the passport starts empty; so take a backup.
Your location is not sent anywhere either. It is used only inside the browser, to work out your distance from a stop.
Some stops have provisional coordinates. Of the — monuments we have, the location of — has been verified against an OpenStreetMap record; the remaining — were estimated from the book's descriptions of where they are and may be off by one or two hundred metres. For stops with a provisional location we have widened the stamping distance to 500 metres, and marked them “provisional location” in the list. As they are verified, this margin will narrow.
The drawings in the middle of the seals were traced by hand from old photographs. Each drawing was traced for this site over an archive photograph of the monument, and shows the building in simplified form. The photographs come from these archives: the TTK Archive, the Hüseyin Menç, Emir Gültekin, Ömer Çiftçi, Sıtkı Karadağ and Perrot archives, and Kültür Portalı. Tap a seal to see which archive's photograph it was drawn from. For the — stops of which we have not found a reliable old photograph, the site's star stands in the middle of the seal until a drawing is ready.
The seal and certificate ornament is an original drawing. It is not a historical sultan's tuğra or a real archival document; it was drawn for this site, inspired by Anatolian geometric ornament.
